Tony Ewing
Tony is the manager and associate director for operations of the new ISU Feed Mill and Grain Science Complex. He joined Iowa State University in March 2021. Previously he served as vice president for Pilmico, The Philippines, where he led a $20M feed mill expansion project that increased capacity by ~17% while reducing cost by 20%. He established KPIs and dashboards realizing continued increases in plant throughput and highest sales in company history. He improved swine ratios to increase daily gain and feed conversions.
Prior he was managing director at Premier Feed Mills in Ibadan, Nigeria, vice president of manufacturing for ARASCO in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and director of international feed manufacturing for Smithfield Foods in Timisoara, Romania. He started his career in the grain and feed industry in the U.S. after he received his B.S. in Ag Business and Economics from Auburn University.
Lloyd Philips
Lloyd Phillips began his processing career in 1991 and has gained extensive global animal feed and food manufacturing knowledge, and experience in various operational functions. These include senior industry roles as Feed Milling Technologist, Technical Services Manager, Regional Manager, and Operations Director.
Lloyd is currently the Managing Director of OptiPro Solutions Ltd, based in the southeast of the United Kingdom and serves a global client base.
Lloyd has a strong interest in exploring both extrusion, pelleting and food processes. These include continually seeking out opportunities to assist and collaborate with animal feed, pet food, and food manufacturers and suppliers. Designedly adding operational value, improving process efficiency, reducing energy and emissions, and to improve and secure product quality.
Janus Fouche
Janus Fouche graduated from the RAU with a Batchelor's degree in 2004 before starting his career agricultural career at a mill optimizing company focusing on mill audits and optimization technologies. Janus spent 6 years auditing and validating programs on feed milling efficiencies and moisture management programs across South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
In 2012 Janus joined a global nutrition business as their African Sales Manager focusing on feed additives and feed mixing wagons. He served as the convener for the Animal Feed Milling Association technical committee.
Janus joined Devenish in 2018 as the Regional Manager for Sub-Sahara Africa. He became SmartMoisture Global Product Manager in 2019 after successful implementation of moisture management programs in various large feedmills.
